How To Get Rid of Fruit Flies
Every so often, dozens of fruit flies descend on my kitchen like moths to a flame. Someone must have told them my cooking was good.
We figured out that they usually accompanied bananas from our local grocery store. Buying them from another store did not prevent the flies from reappearing. But as a runner, I welcome the potassium and other nutrients the banana so wonderfully offers that cutting it out from my shopping list completely is not an option.
Thankfully, one of my favorite chefs taught me a surefire way to get rid of them. At least until the next time I bring home some fruit.
Below is one easy way to get rid of them if, like me, you like your bananas.
- In a cup or container, mix 1 cup apple cider vinegar and 1 tbsp liquid Dawn dishwashing soap.
- Cover container with plastic wrap.
- Poke a few holes in the plastic with a fork.
- Watch those suckers die.
You’re welcome.
