Stranded in Taiwan

December 15, 2000

At this very minute (9:05 pm L.A. time, Friday) I am stuck in Taiwan.

I’m on my way to the Philippines, but due to “bad weather” coming into our Taipei stop, we missed the connecting flight.  I’m in an airport hotel and I don’t get to leave until tomorrow morning.  I have no clothes! No underwear! No passport, even (they collected that at the airport before bussing us here, so currently I’m a woman without a country.)

At least there’s a computer and Internet access for 5 US dollars an hour. I think this is cheaper than Kinko’s. All’s right with the world as long as I can e-mail.

… It’s hot & humid here. I feel sticky and upset that I am missing the welcome party my friends are throwing in Manila. But  I’ll stop the complaining here because things could be worse. I’ll take a shower shortly (praying that there’s hot water.)

There. I’ve officially arrived in Nerd kingdom if my priority is to surf the Net before bathing.

Fa-la-la-la-la to you and Merry Christmas!
